Transit Analysis is a study on the modes of transit between two places which understands the cost, convenience & travel time. Here in Transit Analysis number 1, we will look at New Delhi to Bhopal and vice-versa by Starting from Raj Ghat (in Delhi) to Bhopal Junction.
Our reasonable modes of transit would be: Car, Intercity bus, Train & Flight, let's see their role on this route.
This in my opinion would not be very comfortable at all as it is the slowest mode of transit in this comparison but also the most convenient as you can go door to door with no worries at all. Here are the important facts:
Travel time: 13 Hours 45 Minutes (Too long)
Distance by Road: 780 KM
Cost for whole trip: Depends on Car being used
Convenience Level: 10/10 (Door to door)
Comfort Level: 2.5/10
This is an option which is much faster than both Car & Intercity Bus. Apart from that, the convenience level is very high due to several factors such as one being that passengers can even arrive 15 Minutes before departure & comfortably board the train. Here are the important facts:
Travel time one way:
Vande Bharat Express (Chair Car): 7 Hours 35 Minutes
Shatabdi Express (Chair Car): 8 Hours 35 Minutes
Rajdhani Express (AC3): 8 hours 35 Minutes
Other Trains (AC3): 9 Hours 45 Minutes (Average)
Distance by Rail: ~710KM
Cost for whole trip for 1 Person one way:
Vande Bharat Express (Chair Car): 1735 INR
Shatabdi Express (Chair Car): 1545 INR
Rajdhani Express (AC3): 1865 INR
Other Trains (AC3): 1030 INR
Convenience Level: 9/10
Comfort Level: 9.5/10
This in my opinion is a neutral mode of transport, where it may look very fast, but it is only 2x faster than a train excluding any delays. Here are the important facts:
Travel time: 4 Hours 55 Minutes (1 Hour 25 Min flight time+ 2 Hours at Delhi Airport+ 90 Minutes at Bhopal Airport
Distance by Air: 626 KM
Cost for whole trip (1 Pax one way): 4000 INR
Convenience Level: 9/10
Comfort Level: 6/10

The Intercity Bus if chosen on this route is one of the most expensive, most time consuming and least flexible options among all. Only 1 or 2 buses run this route due to extremely low demand for buses as trains win the route mostly.
Cost: 4750 INR (Average ticket for Sleeper)
Time: 19 Hrs 20 Mins (overnight + morning + evening)
Rating: 1.5/5 Stars
Overall unless someone is a fan of buses, it is highly unlikely this will be chosen as a preferred mode of travel.
In the end, it is upon who is travelling and how he/she wishes to travel. Every mode of transit has it's own pros and cons which suits different types of people.
