The Dubai Bus is a complex bus system which is heavily linked with the Metro system that is through city & intercity buses connecting other parts of the country. The Dubai bus network is a transportation that covers all of Dubai. In the RTA's report of 2024, the city transit network helped complete 747,100,000+ Trips in the entire year which averages at around 2 Million daily.
Note: This data figure is a total collection of Metro, Tram, Bus, Taxi, E-Bikes & other publicly shared modes of transit.
Buses that are parked at Dubai's largest single interchange of all transport (Metro, Bus, Taxi & Ferry): Al Ghubaiba
The network has the following type of buses
1)Local Buses, also known as Urban Buses (Denoted by just a number)
2)Metro Connection Bus (Denoted by a "F" Prefix meaning Feeder to metro)
3)Express Bus, with limited stops (Denoted by an "X")
4) Special Bus, from a major transit hub to a specefic popular destination (Denoted by numbers between 100-110 for special locations such as Global Village & Miracle Garden)
5) Intercity Bus, that run to all 7 Emirates & Hatta (Denoted by "E" followed by a 3 digit number)
6) Night Bus (Denoted by "N")
7) Central Buisness District Bus (Denoted by "C")
They span from Dubai Logistics city in the south to Al Quasis Industrial Area in the north
The bus fares are done by the Nol card. Minimum fare is 5 AED (100 INR)(1.36$). Travelling within 3 stops makes the fare 3 AED (60 INR & 0.82$) while crossing 3 Zones (eg. Gold Souq-Expo 2020) will cost 7.5 Dirhams.
One of the problems with the buses are they are not fast for long distances. They are made in a way to get you between your bus stop & any metro station since the Metro's are much faster than the buses. This major issue has been resolved by the implementation of Express Buses and some regular buses having large gaps between stops, however the high dependency on the metro makes it a little inconvenient.
The affordability and serving areas makes it Dubai's most used public transport.
These are the C Buses which serve old Dubai Regions like Karama, Mankhool, Bur Dubai, Port Rashid, Al Ghubaiba & Deira.
These stops are the brain of the bus network as almost important bus routes stop here. People living within 500M have the best access. Most don't own a car & use the bus or the Green Line Metro on the Two stops.
