Shanghai Subway
The Shanghai Metro (Chinese: 上海地铁) is a rapid transit system in Shanghai. This is the worlds largest metro system by length at 743 KM. With 18 lines and 381 stations, The Shanghai Metro is the third-oldest MRT in mainland China.
The first Line- Red line/Line 1 Opened with 4 Stations and 4.5 km in 1993. Today the map tells itself how much it has grown connecting the city and the outskirts. With 10 Million commuters daily counting up to 3.9 Billion .Almost 3 Times the population of China itself!
If a person doesn't use the map and don't know where he has to go it can be frustrating finding your way through this complex system., operating urban and suburban transit services to 14 of its 16 municipal districts and to it's Neighboring provinces Opening in 1993.

The most recent expansions having opened in January 2021. It is the biggest component of the Shanghai metropolitan rail transit network. This is one of the most complex Heavy Rail Networks on the Planet .There are so many lines that they are counted by number than color

The operating hours for most Shanghai metro stations starts between 5:00 to 6:00 in the morning and ends between 22:30 to 23:00 CST. The Station in the city center remains open all night. Extra trains run on Holidays and Weekends.
There are two types of transfer stations: physical transfer stations and transit-card only ones.
Physical transfer station-passengers can transfer between subway lines without exiting a fare zone.
Transit-card only transfer station-however, passengers have to exit and re-enter fare zones as they transfer from one subway line to another.
How to get discount -Use a Shanghai public transport card (SPTC) only
Hubs and Interchanges with other transport change stations-Peoples Square is the busiest station in the network. All Hubs and Interchanges have Bus Services and others have cycle stations.Maglev works Between Pudong Airport and Longyang Road.

Accidents
December 22, 2009—at about 5:50 am, an electrical fault in the tunnel between South Shaanxi Road station and People's Square 2 trains collide, no injuries but train damaged.
July 5, 2010—A woman was boarding the train when the door shuts & wrist gets trapped in platform doors and train moves.
September 27, 2011—at 2:51 pm, two trains on Line 10 collided between Yuyuan Garden station and Laoximen station, injuring 284–300 people.
